Gracie is a 2007 American sports/historical fiction film directed by Davis Guggenheim. It stars Carly Schroeder as Gracie Bowen, Dermot Mulroney as Bryan Bowen, Elisabeth Shue as Lindsay Bowen, Jesse Lee Soffer as Johnny Bowen, and Andrew Shue as Coach Owen Clark.
Gracie takes place in New Jersey in 1978 before Title IX (which was passed in 1972) had a chance to take effect[1] and when women's soccer did not exist in the States. Gracie, the film's central protagonist, overcomes the loss of her brother by convincing her family and school to allow her to play varsity soccer on an all-boys team. It is loosely based on the childhood experiences of Elisabeth Shue.
The novel Gracie (by fantasy and science fiction author Suzanne Weyn) was released in June 2007.[2]
How to Start an Indoor Soccer League
Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Challenging Step1Locate your nearest indoor soccer arenas. You can find this information in the phone book, yellowpages.com or through word-of-mouth.
Step2
Learn the requirements of the indoor soccer arena for starting a league. They will share with you the information such as number of teams, rules and coaching qualifications.
Step3
Decide if you are going to have an adult or youth indoor soccer league. Check around the neighborhoods and see what kind of demand there may be if you aren't preferential.
Step4
Recruit coaches for your soccer teams. Make sure to perform background checks on all your potential coaches. Make sure they meet the requirements to coach an indoor soccer league.
Step5
Enlist players for your indoor soccer league. You can do this by hanging up fliers, advertising in your local newspaper and contacting the schools in the area if you're recruiting children.
Step6
Schedule practices. These practices need to be held at a time when most people can attend. Keep the time consistent for those who have other engagements.
Step7
Meet with the coaches to make a schedule for the games. Arrange these times with the indoor soccer arena staff as well.
